Filter boards and backlogs, no JQL
A big Jira board holds work for many people. To find yours, you should not need JQL or an admin's quick filter. Dropdown filters sit right on the board and backlog. Pick an assignee, an epic, a version or any field. Save it as a private filter. It is still there the next day.
Come to planning prepared
Planning time should go to choices, not a hunt for work. One-click panel filters show which epics and versions still need planning. They include Uncompleted, Unestimated, Empty and Completed. Save your view before you meet. To share it by URL, use a team filter set up by a board administrator. Private filters stay with their owner.
Set WIP limits where flow breaks
Jira sets WIP limits per column, but a stage can span several. Column Groups join them into a stage or team lane. Each group has one shared WIP limit. Go over it, and the stage turns red. You keep the Kanban and Scrum boards you use now. Column Groups need Jira Software 8.1 or later.

Test it on your own boards
On Data Center now? You can buy new apps and move up a user tier before March 30, 2028.
Requirements, cost, data, and limits
Is there a Cloud version of the app?
Not yet, but we are building one. Atlassian now ships only security and critical fixes for Data Center. Jira 11 adds nothing new to boards. This app fills that gap today. If you are on Data Center now, you can buy new apps and move up a user tier before March 30, 2028. 30-day trials and renewals still work.
What does the app cost?
It adds 2–4% to a Jira Data Center bill. It touches each team, each day. The price per user falls fast as your tier grows. You renew Data Center once a year. Each time, you check each app again. Tools in daily use pass that check. Unused tools do not. See prices by tier on the Atlassian Marketplace.
Does the app work with Jira Service Management projects?
It needs Jira Software 7.2 or later. Its filters sit on Jira Software boards and backlogs. You can't turn it on in a Jira instance that runs only Jira Service Management. It does not change service project queues or the customer portal.
Do we pay for each Jira user, even if just a few teams use the filters?
Yes. You buy it at the same user tier as your Jira Software Data Center license. It covers all users on that license. That includes teams that do not filter boards yet. You can't buy it per team or per board. Any team can start to use it later, with no new purchase.
Where are the saved filters kept?
In your own Jira database, in a table named AO_JIRA_USER_FILTERS. The app keeps them there, not with us.
Can we stop the app from sending usage data?
Yes. A Jira admin can turn this off on the Analytics Configuration screen, in your own Jira. Your admins control it, not us.
Is there a limit on how many issues a filter can show?
Yes, but Jira sets it, not the app. By default, a Jira search stops at 1,000 results. If a filter finds more, the app shows a message. You then narrow the filter. A Jira admin can raise the limit with the jira.search.views.default.max property.
