A profile link starts as a Follow button, a post link as a post. Then you can switch to another type that fits the link.
Key on the server
Your X API key stays on the server
It is stored encrypted. Page readers and authors never see it. The app does not need to know who is reading.
Guest access
X content for guests and logged-out readers
Guests can see X content, and add it, where space permissions let them. On public sites, readers without an account see it too.
Refresh time
Timeline refresh from 1 hour to 7 days
Your admin picks it. The default is 24 hours. A shorter time shows new posts sooner, and it can mean more X reads.
From an X link to a finished page
For timelines, an admin connects your X API key once
X Connector links Confluence to X with your company's own key. The admin saves it on the Configure page. There they see if the key works and how often timelines refresh. They also see your X credit balance when X reports it.
Start from the + menu or an X link
Open the + menu and pick an X Connector type, or drop an X link into the page. For a timeline, pick Embedded Timeline. Or paste the account link and choose Timeline in the editor. Check the preview, then save.
Readers see the posts and act on X
Readers scroll the timeline and play videos where they are. When they press a button, Confluence asks first. Then X opens in a new tab, where they post, follow or write from their own account.
Questions before you install
Do we need an X developer account, and what will X charge?
Only for timelines and for Message buttons set up with a username. A Message button with a numeric X user ID needs no key.
An admin creates a key in the X Developer Console and saves it once. X bills that account for what the app reads, at its own rates. You can cap the spend in X's console. Our usage costs guide explains the bill.What does X see when a page shows X content?
The app does not need to know who reads the page. Your key never reaches a browser. Timelines the app draws run without X's script. Posts, video, broadcasts and images still come from X, so X sees those calls from the reader's browser.
How do our authors add X content?
They pick a type from the insert menu or paste a supported X link. For a timeline, they pick Timeline in the editor. Then they check the preview and save. The start guide walks through a first page.
Do we need a new vendor to buy it?
No. You buy it and pay for it through Atlassian.
Does it run on Data Center?
This page covers the Cloud app. The Data Center app shares the listing, but it is a separate app.
